Site Installations
Artistic statement “Invisible City 96”
I was involved in the festival as a visual artist-performer; I created an installation call “Venice the disappearance” in wood, floating on Morphet dock. It was a sculpture showing the principal monuments of Venice in silhouette, I also (collaborated with other artist to created other installations) transformed a small boat it to a gondola from which I performed as gondolier talking about Venice and its monuments. I believe Italo Calvino was inspired by Venice when he wrote Invisible City and Venice is a great example of Multiculturalism Arts and restorations. Perhaps this is in someway a pointer for Liverpool to follow in view of the decay of many fine buildings of historical, architectural and housing importance. Invisible City Project was in itself of importance for Liverpool in uniting the various Arts Forms and Cultures in the Merseyside area.
